The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority achieves 4 more certifications

The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has been awarded four conformity certificates from the British Standards Institution (BSI), as well as adopting its transition to two new standards in cooperation with the institute. The accomplishment enhances the authority's mission of becoming an internationally recognized organization in agriculture and food safety, bringing the total number of global and local systems being applied by the authority to 15.

This came in a certificate receiving ceremony held by ADFCA at its main headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The event was attended by HE Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri, Director-General of ADFCA, Yahya El Olabi, Director-General of BSI for Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia, and a number of leaders and staff of the authority and the institute.

From his side, H.E. Al Ameri has stressed that the authority was keen - right from its inception - on continuous development of its performance and service, as well as adhering to methodologies that would enable it to achieve its strategic objectives of ensuring people's wellbeing and their protection from food-related dangers.

 "This was sought to be done through adopting international best practices and laying down policies, rules and standards of quality and pursuing research and integrated awareness programmes," said Al Ameri.

Al Ameri added: "Since 2009, the total number of certificates attained by the authority reached 13 global management certificates. The attainment of these certificates of international management systems would bring in numerous benefits to the authority. These benefits include improving services provided to the public, enhancing the staff performance, promoting team work spirit, devoting individual achievements to achieve the authority's objectives, and supporting ADFCA's vision of becoming an internationally recognized organization."

 He praised BSI's efforts in enabling ADFCA to be the only authority in the Middle East and Africa to implement an integrated management system consisting of 13 management systems. He further thanked the staff for their efforts that contributed to attaining this achievement. Furthermore, Al Ameri urged the authority's leadership to translate this achievement into daily practices that contribute to creating working environment supports the sustainable development.

 The certificates obtained by the authority include Training Quality Management Standard ISO 10015: 2015, Risk Management ISO 31000: 2009, IT Service Management ISO / IEC 20000: 2011, and the International Standard for Service Excellence TISSE 2012. Moreover, the authority has obtained Quality Management Slandered ISO 9001 and Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001: 2015.

Within its strategic plan, ADFCA implemented six international management systems in 2009-2013, through implementing its Integrated Management System (IMS) based on PAS 99: 2006 system. The aim of implementing the IMS was to develop all its processes and procedures within a framework that would enable the authority to manage these processes efficiently, to optimize the use of available resources, as well as providing the best services to its customers.
